Shoe Box Charity

He who gives to the poor shall not be in want, but he who turns away his eyes from them shall be in much distress. Proverb 28:29

Our Sunday school arranging a charity project is known as Shoe Box Charity organised by Samaritan Purse. Samaritan Purse is an international charitable organisation, which proclaim and demonstrate the love of God amongst the countries like Africa, Eastern Europe & central Asia. Operation Christmas child (shoe box) they collect the gifts for the deprived children in Africa. Therefore, we humbly request to all parents please be generous and also teach our children about sharing for the needy.

We request all the parents & children please start collecting your items you would like to donate (minimum 3-4 items from the list per box). Please bring the items in a carry bag and £3 on following dates 26/10/14, 29/10/14, 30/10/14 & 31/10/2014. All the items should receive by 31/10/14 before 10.00am.

The received items will be placed in shoe boxes and labelled on 31/10/14. Venue: St Johns Bolton school, Kearsley, BL4 8AP.

Gift suggestions

Age group: 2-4, 5-9, 10-14yrs.

Please buy a selection of new gifts from the following list, or similar items:Do not mix boys and girls item.

  • Toys: items that child will immediately embrace such as dolls or stuffed toys (with CE label), toy trucks, yo-yo, skipping rope, ball, small puzzles etc.
  • School supplies: Pens, pencils & sharpeners, colour pencils, crayons or felt-tip pens, writing pads or note books, paper calculator, colouring &picture books, story books etc.
  • Hygiene items: Tooth brush, tooth paste, soap, flannel etc.
  • Other items: Hat, cap, scarf, gloves, sunglasses, hair accessories, fancy jewellery items etc.

Do not include: used or damaged items, toy guns, play soldiers or knives, liquids or lotions of any type including bubbles, marbles or sharp objects, glass containers, mirrors or fragile items, anything of a political, racial or religious nature.

£3 Donation per box: Place £3 in an envelope with child &parent’s name, the final collection will accredited to our church account and will collect one cheque in favour to Samaritan Purse.
